A tribute to Virgil Abloh

The pioneering fashion designer Virgil Abloh passed away over the weekend. As artistic director at Louis Vuitton, he was the first African-American to lead a French luxury fashion house, and will be remembered for his endless ideas, his infectious enthusiasm, and his radical, transformative and inclusive approach to fashion.

A trained architect, Virgil entered the world of fashion when he interned at Fendi with Kanye West in 2009.

He went on to found Off-White, the label that pioneered the fusion of streetwear and luxury clothing.

In 2018, he became artistic director at Louis Vuitton, the first African-American to lead a French luxury fashion house.

He’ll be remembered for his endless ideas, his infectious enthusiasm,
and his radical, transformative and inclusive approach to fashion.
