Vintage Zodiac Swiss Men's Sports Chronograph, 1960s – Stainless Steel

Classic Zodiac Chronograph – All Original

Today we present this Zodiac two-register chronograph, entirely original, manufactured by the brand for the American market.

This is a discreet vintage watch, ideal for everyday wear and at an affordable price, but far from simple.

Originally, chronographs were designed as precision instruments, meeting the needs of doctors, pilots, race car drivers, athletes, and other professionals requiring high accuracy in their timekeeping. Equipped with special functions that facilitated their operation, these high-precision mechanisms played an essential role in the lives of their owners.

Two of the most frequently used functions on a chronograph were a special subdial for timing events lasting up to 30 minutes and a tachymeter scale for easily determining speed and distance, as seen on this watch. Some models, like this one, also featured 1/5-second graduations on the dial for optimal timing accuracy.

This watch is powered by a Landeron caliber 248 movement. For those unfamiliar with chronographs, it's worth noting that, due to their complexity, most brands at the time, including prestigious ones, did not manufacture their own chronograph movements but purchased them from companies specializing in the production of these sophisticated mechanisms.

One of the leading manufacturers of chronograph movements during this period was the Swiss firm Landeron. Its movements are renowned for having equipped certain chronographs, as well as Gallet watches and many other Swiss watchmakers.

Our watch has all its original parts, right down to its elegant J.B. Champion for Zodiac strap, with its remarkable design and finish.

Its pristine, luminescent silver dial is authentic and original, and its blued steel chronograph hands lend it a touch of elegance and refinement.

Its case, with its beautiful faceted lugs, is in impeccable original condition. The lower edges of the lugs show slight wear to the plating, and the watch displays only minor wear overall.
