💡💡 Harrington Jackets: This type of garment was designed under the Baracuta brand in pre-war Manchester by the brothers John and Isaac Miller, it was given the designation “G9”, (G for Golf) and was originally a waterproof garment with a Scottish Tartan lining, designed for playing golf.
The popularization and current name as Harrington came much later, between 1964 and 69 the series Peyton Place was broadcast in the US, in it, one of the characters, Rodney Harrington, played by Ryan O’Neal, always wore this jacket, Americans went to the stores to buy Harrington's jacket. That is the reason for the current name. Previously, the G9 had been worn in cinema by Elvis Presley (King Creole 1958) and James Dean (Rebel Without a Cause 1955).
