In the early 2000s, as Tokyo’s Ura-Harajuku scene surged with subversive energy, Takahiro Miyashita—founder of Number (N)ine—was shaping a cult following with his brooding, rock-inspired aesthetic. Drawing from his deep admiration for Kurt Cobain and American counterculture, Miyashita’s collections often blurred the lines between music, melancholy, and fashion.

The alpaca cardigan, introduced around the Fall/Winter 2004 season, was part of his collection titled “A Closed Feeling”—a theme rooted in isolation, introspection, and the soft sadness of winter.
