MUGLER Archival 1990s Turquoise Structured Jacket/ Mini Dress
A beautifully preserved example of Manfred Thierry Mugler's sculptural tailoring from his mid-to-late 1990s period. This is a snap-button jacket/dress built around Mugler's signature curved dart lines that map the female body with precision. It creates an exaggerated hourglass silhouette without boning or corseting. The structure is entirely based on the cut and seam placement. The woven textile has a linen-like texture in a vivid turquoise, consistent with Mugler's love of saturated colour blocking during this period.
I imagine this as part of a suit but it fits me perfectly as a short dress and I am 165cm tall. The off-shoulder bardot neckline makes this silhouette so delicious. The self-covered buttons go down the front. The flared hip panel creates a subtle peplum effect.
Excellent vintage condition. No visible damage, pulls or staining. There is no inner care label which I think wasn’t present in the design in the first place, because I have seen similar other pieces from that time without one.
French 36 / UK 8 / US 4. Fits true to a small.
