Y"s Yohji Yamamoto Woman"s Lt Grey Fine Knit Convertible Split-Leg Long Skirt

This vintage convertible split-leg skirt is Y's Yohji Yamamoto womens collection from S/S 2008. Yohji Yamamoto is famous for for his avant-garde deconstructed pieces and this is certainly one of them.

The color is pale grey and it is a delicate, finely knitted long skirt from first glance. But, when you take a closer look, it actually has two legs, the left one with an 8.5" across hem with a blue stripe on the edge and the right one is a wide 20" across hem fastened to the other leg with 5 buttons. The wide leg gives the freedom of movement for walking even while buttoned to the narrow leg. Then one unbuttons the 5 buttons and it becomes an asymmetrical 31" wide hem skirt, so typical of Yohji Yamamoto's designs.

There is a 2.5 " high knitted elastic waistband and this allows it to be worn high or low-slung. Even though it is a Y's size 2, it is one size and can be worn as small as an American 2-4 up to an 8-10 depending on one's frame. It has one pocket on the right side and that tells you which is the front of the skirt. This finely kitted skirt is somewhat sheer and it is very delicate, so one has to be careful.

This fabric is 44% nylon 28% linen 28% cotton, It was made in China and it is dry clean only.
