Earring that seems to date from between 1990 and 1995, several characteristics prove it such as the animal symbolism, the discreet hallmark, and the qualitative artisanal work, a sign of a small production. The House of Gaultier did not produce its costume jewelry creations between 1980-1990 as this work was entrusted to Parisian workshops like Desrues, which also worked for Chanel, the Goossens workshop, or small workshops in the Rue du Temple/Marais area. These workshops produced Gaultier collections for wide distribution but also small series for luxury boutiques or fashion shows. The fashion of the 80s-90s, especially in Paris, adopted the asymmetrical look, for example by wearing a single earring. Gaultier liked to break codes, and thus some boutiques offered the single or mismatched earring, composing one's ear with strong, sculptural, symbolic, or figurative pieces.
Unique sculptural single earring, of small to medium size, which reveals a realistic animal motif in relief. Representation of a bull's head inspired by the creator's astrological sign, who liked to evoke personal symbols in his creations but also, through a broader artistic approach, Jean Paul Gaultier was at that time very inspired by symbols related to religious iconography, ancient, oriental, Asian civilizations, totem animals, or references in the fine arts.

Pendant-style, almost miniature bull's head, made of a cast brass metal alloy, a combination of copper and zinc for a rather clean and unpolished inner casting, with a slightly granular surface, featuring a discreet stamped hallmark "JPG".
The galvanic gold plating that was applied is stable, thick, and reflects the sunny color of real gold.
The quality of the very detailed casting and the thick gilding prove that it is a small series production for a high-end boutique or for a fashion show rather than for wide distribution. Moreover, the earring is at least 30 years old and the plating still has a flawless shine, it has not diminished.
We observe a bull's head whose authentic character is marked by textured ears, a worked forehead, and a three-dimensional volume. It is the desire to make this totem animal clearly visible on the ear, which corresponds to the provocative and symbolic style of Jean Paul Gaultier. Original fir green velvet pouch signed "Jean Paul Gaultier".

🪞Very good vintage condition considering its age. High-end artisanal production, micro-irregularities may appear. The animal's head from an unpolished brass casting intentionally has roughness, grooves, and the application of the thick galvanic gold plating does not prevent rare black micro-traces, typical of copper oxidation, which gives it character. The spring of the lever-back clasp is like new and works perfectly. The rounded arm is very slightly less straight but as you can check in the photos, it is minimal. Pouch 9/10. Clean jewel, cleaned, non-smoking house so no smell except that of the original material.

Boucle d'oreille qui semble dater d'entre 1990 et 1995, plusieurs caractéristiques le prouvent comme le symbolisme animal, le poinçon discret et le travail artisanal qualitatif, signe d'une petite production. La maison Gaultier ne produisait pas ses créations de bijoux fantaisie entre 1980-1990 car ce travail était confié à des ateliers parisiens comme Desrues, qui travaillait aussi pour, l'atelier Goossens, ou de petits ateliers de la rue du temple/Marais. Ces ateliers produisaient des collections Gaultier pour une large distribution mais aussi de petites séries pour des boutiques de luxe ou des défilés. La mode des années 80-90, surtout à Paris, a adopté le look asymétrique, par exemple en portant une seule boucle d'oreille. Gaultier aimait casser les codes, et ainsi certaines boutiques proposaient la boucle d'oreille unique ou dépareillée, composant son oreille avec des pièces fortes, sculpturales, symboliques ou figuratives.
Boucle d'oreille unique sculpturale, de taille petite à moyenne, qui révèle un motif animalier réaliste en relief. Représentation d'une tête de taureau inspirée du signe astrologique du créateur, qui aimait évoquer des symboles personnels dans ses créations mais aussi, par une approche artistique plus large, Jean Paul Gaultier était à cette époque très inspiré par les symboles liés à l'iconographie religieuse, aux civilisations anciennes, orientales, asiatiques, aux animaux totems ou liés à des références dans les beaux-arts.

Tête de taureau de style pendentif presque miniature, faite d'un alliage de métal en laiton coulé, une combinaison de cuivre et de zinc pour une coulée intérieure plutôt propre et non polie, avec une surface légèrement granuleuse, présentant un poinçon discret estampé "JPG".
Le placage à l'or galvanique qui a été appliqué est stable, épais et reflète la couleur ensoleillée de l'or véritable.
La qualité de la coulée très détaillée et la dorure épaisse prouvent qu'il s'agit d'une production en petite série pour une boutique haut de gamme ou pour un défilé de mode plutôt que pour une large distribution. De plus, la boucle d'oreille a au moins 30 ans et le placage a toujours un éclat impeccable, il n'a pas diminué.
On observe une tête de taureau dont le caractère authentique est marqué par des oreilles texturées, un front travaillé et un volume tridimensionnel. C'est le désir de rendre cet animal totem clairement visible sur l'oreille, ce qui correspond au style provocateur et symbolique de Jean Paul Gaultier. Pochon en velours vert sapin d'origine signé ”Jean Paul Gaultier”.

🪞État vintage très bon compte tenu de son âge. Production artisanale haut de gamme, des micro-irrégularités peuvent apparaître. La tête de l'animal issue d'une coulée de laiton non polie, présente intentionnellement des aspérités, des sillons et l'application du placage à l'or galvanique épais n'empêche pas de rares micro-traces noires, typiques de l'oxydation du cuivre, ce qui lui donne du caractère. Le ressort du fermoir à levier est comme neuf et fonctionne parfaitement. La branche arrondie est très légèrement moins droite mais comme vous pouvez le vérifier sur les photos, c'est minime. Pochon 9/10. Bijou propre, nettoyé, maison non-fumeur donc pas d'odeur sauf celle du matériau d'origine.
