Absolutely fabulous vintage three strand coin bib necklace by Yves Saint Laurent from the 1970s. The gold coloured necklace was made famous by the actress Farah Fawcett who wore it for a photo shoot in Vogue magazine in 1977. The necklace was designed by Roger Scemama for Yves Saint Laurent and only produced in small numbers at the time specifically for the Haute Couture market. I believe that it is gold plated metal but can’t be sure. There is a hook fastening at the back of the necklace. One of the hooks has ‘YSL’ stamped on it and there is also a YSL hangtag present. There are a variety of coins present of different sizes, shapes and designs . The coins are meant to be distressed and slightly misshapen in some instances. The dents, tiny holes slight bends in the coins are all meant to be there. Overall this is a vintage piece in great condition with some wear commensurate with age i.e- as you would expect- minor loss of plating, fading of the gold , tarnishing etc ( colour is perhaps best shown by the first photo with natural lighting). It is an exceptional and arguably rare collectors piece.
