A true collector’s piece from Chanel’s Printemps-Été 2003 collection under Karl Lagerfeld — the house’s most famous number cast in a warm matte gilt openwork lattice and paved with hand-set gripoix-style cabochons in a sorbet palette: coral, butter yellow, blush pink, apricot, and smoke grey. Every stone catches light differently. Every angle is a different brooch.
From the tail of the Nº 5 swings a petite pale-pink enameled CC charm — small, deliberate, a little flirtatious. The kind of detail you notice second and remember first.
Styled as a long stick pin (épingle) with a removable gold-ball clutch — the more couture of the two brooch formats, threading through fabric rather than clasping flat, and sitting securely on tweed, thicker lapels, silk scarves, coat collars, hat bands, or the strap of the bag you’ve had for a decade. It rewrites whatever it touches.
